Fully Funded PhD Opportunity in Applied AI – Georgia Southern University (Fall 2025)
Georgia Southern University is offering a fully funded PhD position in Applied Artificial Intelligence, starting in Fall 2025, under the mentorship of Dr. Salim Sazzed. The selected candidate will join an active research group working on computer vision, natural language processing (NLP), bioinformatics, and social computing. The position includes a full tuition waiver and a competitive stipend.
Research Focus Areas

Developing AI-driven tools for biological structure analysis using deep learning and computer vision

Applying NLP and social computing techniques to analyze health-related text from social media
Eligibility Criteria

A Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (e.g., Software Engineering) with a strong academic record (required by university policy)

Prior research experience and peer-reviewed publications

Solid foundation in NLP, computer vision, image processing, and deep learning

Proficiency in Python and C/C++, with experience using libraries such as TensorFlow or PyTorch

Strong skills in mathematics, including probability and statistics
