The Cameras Architecture Team specializes in creating end-to-end camera simulation pipelines that drive innovation in smart glasses, AR, MR, and other imaging products. Collaboration with leading software partners and an AI-driven sourcing process underscore Aditi’s commitment to technical excellence and client success.

About the Role

An opportunity exists for an Optical Modeling Engineer to develop, validate, and optimize optical models within a comprehensive imaging simulation pipeline. This position bridges theoretical lens design with real-world performance, supporting novel camera hardware exploration and product architecture validation across diverse categories.

Responsibilities

  • Create and validate high-fidelity optical models for simulation of image sensors, lens assemblies, and imaging algorithms
  • Partner with optics and camera teams to refine modeling requirements and enhance simulation accuracy and throughput
  • Liaise with software vendors (e.g., Synopsys, Ansys) to assess implementation details and resolve limitations
  • Coordinate with graphics renderer and sensor-model developers to balance fidelity and computational efficiency
  • Conduct experiments and collect data to verify model validity against real-world camera behaviors
  • Research and integrate emerging imaging-modeling technologies and develop advanced calibration/metrology techniques

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field (Master’s/PhD preferred)
  • 10+ years of hands-on imaging optics design, optimization, and ray-tracing experience
  • Proficient scripting in Python or MATLAB for programmatic lens-behavior modeling
  • Expertise in Code V and Zemax (or equivalent) for lens design and ray tracing, including understanding of internal implementations
  • Deep knowledge of image formation (spectral response, aberrations, PSF, sensor noise, Fourier sampling)
  • Proven ability to manage projects independently from concept through delivery

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing optical design or ray-tracing software
  • Background in imaging-system calibration, metrology, and image-quality testing (MTF/SNR)
  • Familiarity with image-sensor architectures and image-processing pipelines
  • Exposure to shell scripting and continuous-integration workflows
