About the Role

The Computer Vision Machine Learning Engineer will join the Markerless Department in Botley, Oxfordshire. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to pioneering motion capture products with a focus on research innovation. The position provides flexibility through a hybrid on-site/home working arrangement and the chance to directly influence technical direction while contributing to groundbreaking projects.

Responsibilities

  • Research and develop cutting-edge motion capture solutions with a focus on computer vision and machine learning
  • Contribute to the technical direction of projects and suggest new research areas
  • Collaborate with the research and development team to design and implement innovative approaches
  • Work with large-scale spatio-temporal datasets to advance model capabilities
  • Potentially guide independent research projects within the team’s framework

Required Skills

  • Advanced academic background (Research Master’s or PhD) and/or equivalent industry experience
  • Strong expertise in computer vision challenges, including object detection and human pose estimation
  • Proficiency in machine learning methods such as CNNs and ViTs, combined with traditional algorithms
  • Experience modeling human and object shape, movement, and appearance
  • Hands-on experience with large datasets and ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, Lightning)
  • Strong teamwork skills and a proactive, problem-solving mindset

Preferred Qualifications

  • Published work in peer-reviewed journals or conferences
  • Full ML lifecycle experience, from prototype to production-ready systems
  • Knowledge of model quantisation and optimisation for GPU deployment
  • Background in human motion capture, sports, or animation tools
  • Familiarity with C++
