About the Role
YouTube is seeking a Software Engineer III (AI/ML Computer Vision) to develop next-generation technologies in image classification, object detection, and signal processing. This role focuses on delivering scalable AI/ML solutions, optimizing models, and enhancing YouTube’s visual and interactive experiences. The position involves working on key projects, collaborating across teams, and contributing to core systems that power YouTube’s video platform.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement robust system or product development code tailored for AI/ML applications in computer vision.
- Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders through design/code reviews, ensuring adherence to best coding practices, efficiency, and testability.
- Maintain and update technical documentation and educational resources based on evolving product features and user feedback.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system-level issues, performing root cause analysis across hardware, network, or service operations.
- Develop and optimize computer vision models, utilizing ML infrastructure for deployment, evaluation, and data pipeline improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- 2+ years of experience in software development using one or more programming languages.
- 1+ year of experience working with computer vision technologies (image classification, object detection, visual search, video generation, or signal processing).
- 1+ year of hands-on experience with ML infrastructure (model deployment, evaluation, optimization, or data processing).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- 2+ years of experience in data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles.
- Experience in developing accessible and inclusive technologies for diverse user bases.
Compensation & Benefits
- US base salary range: $141,000 – $202,000 annually (plus bonus, equity, and benefits).
