Position: Staff Computer Vision Data Scientist

About the Role:
Join LineVision, a fast-growing climate-tech company, as a Staff Computer Vision Data Scientist. You’ll lead the development of advanced computer vision systems that power the global electric grid, with a focus on real-world, outdoor applications. Your work will directly support the clean energy transition.
What You’ll Do:

Design and manage an end-to-end machine learning pipeline for computer vision models.

Build efficient, edge-ready CV models suitable for low-power, remote environments.

Mentor and support team members on CV techniques and best practices.

Curate and develop datasets across varied sensing and environmental contexts.

Drive initiatives that fuse multimodal data sources (e.g., satellite, LiDAR, drone, multispectral, etc.).
Milestones:

First 3 Months: Evaluate existing CV infrastructure, begin designing a sustainable training system, and build cross-team relationships.

First 6 Months: Launch an MVP training pipeline and an initial edge-deployable CV model; mentor team members.

First Year: Deliver a production-ready CV pipeline, ship multiple robust models (including for edge), and establish best practices and performance benchmarks.
Skills & Experience:

Proven experience building new CV systems in complex outdoor environments.

Strong knowledge of classical and modern CV techniques.

Proficient in Python and tools like OpenCV, scikit-image, Roboflow, and anomalib.

Experience mentoring others and collaborating across teams.
Bonus Qualifications:

Skill in crafting training datasets using synthetic data or public sources.

Experience deploying models on constrained edge devices.

Strong understanding of sensor physics and imaging artifacts.

Familiarity with AWS SageMaker, image annotation tools, and sensor data fusion.
Team & Reporting:
Reports to the Senior Director of Data Science. You’ll work closely with hardware, software, and product teams, and mentor junior/mid-level data scientists.

Salary Range:
$150,000–$175,000/year
